AGM 2023

All are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Leeds St Patrick's Day Parade Committee to be held on Sunday 14th May 2023, 11.00am at the Leeds Irish Centre.

The parade committee is a group of volunteers, who come together to organise the parade. Without volunteers the parade would simply not happen - it is a community led event. If you'd like a parade to remember in 2024, please come and join us at the AGM and offer your support.

Volunteers can help with organising the parade at any stage - either throughout the year, or on parts of the parade planning, or on parade weekend itself.

What does the committee do?

Members of the parade committee work together to co-ordinate and invite participation in the parade and the Millennium Square festivities. We meet at the Irish Centre every month which increases to weekly during February. There are a range of tasks and activities to complete to ensure a successful event and each committee member takes on one or a number of tasks depending on their skills and interest.

On parade weekend we organise the Launch Night and the set up of the marquees and stage on Millennium Square. On parade day we co-ordinate the parade itself, and the activities on Millennium Square.

Members of the committee work closely with the professional services of Leeds City Council Events, Highways, and Safety Advisory Group to provide a safe and enjoyable event.

The parade receives funding from the Leeds City Council Culture Programme and the Government of Ireland Emigrant Support Programme for which we are very grateful. This funding is applied for each year by the committee.

We are also very grateful for the 'in kind' sponsorship we receive from Leeds Irish Centre, and from the contractors who provide the wagons for the parade floats: Moortown Group, Plantforce, Murphy Group, Peter Duffy Ltd, K Rouse Civil Engineers Ltd, and Durkan & Sons Ltd. This support from local business and organisations is essential to keep the parade running as it is.

The committee is extremely grateful for the support of the Irish organisations and groups who turn out every year to take part, and all those who come to Millennium Square to celebrate.
